We’re agents for LTi Drives

Lti Drives range

We’re delighted to be able to report that LTi Drives, of Germany, formerly Lust Industries, has appointed Motor Technology as its UK agents. We were chosen because of our long-term reputation for dedicated customer service and our track record of designing bespoke servo solutions for some of the biggest names in industry.

This is great news for both ourselves and our customers as LTi Drives manufactures one of the widest and most innovative ranges of servo drives in the business. The quality and range of their products rivals that of the likes of Siemens, Bosch Rexroth and ABB, with solutions for the simplest and most straightforward of tasks right the way up to the most demanding applications.

Beefed up servos test jet combustion

As our 25th anniversary year draws to a close we’re taking another look back in time at one of the most interesting and exciting projects we’ve been involved in during our quarter century of controlling motion.

Jet engine

This time we’re going back to 2006 when we were asked to design a servo system to drive a rotating drum in, of all things, the exhaust of a jet engine combustor! The combustor was part of a test rig, built by Howco Oilfield Services based on a design by the Frazer Nash Consultancy. The rig was designed to replicate the combustor of a jet engine found on modern passenger aircraft.

The rotating drum, positioned in the exhaust of the combustor, generated acoustic excitations, which could affect the flame inside the combustor in different ways. Research and development engineers, working for a major aero engine manufacturer, wanted to test the responsiveness of the flame to a range of acoustic excitations. The servo system had to provide precise control of the drum’s speed and tolerate the hot exhaust gases of the combustor.

Cut costs with Mattke Compatibles

In this month’s issue of Motor Technology news we’re spotlighting Mattke’s range of compatible products that can really save you money when you’re replacing components or retrofitting machinery.

MATTKE-rng

Mattke, a company based in Germany’s Black Forest, has aquired the licenses to manufacture a wide range of discontinued servo drives, motors, controllers, gearboxes, encoders and associated components. The range includes products that have long since been discontinued by companies such as Siemens, AEG, Bosch, Kollmorgen, Seidel and others.

There is a lot of older equipment out there that is still operating perfectly, but many of the components are no longer made by the original manufacturer. Motor Technology are agents for Mattke in the UK and thus are able to support customers with older equipment and give them a choice of a repair or a replacement with a compatible product made by Mattke.
